Celebration of International Women’s Day – Utility Hamper Distribution Drive

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Women Development Cell (WDC) of MES Pillai College of Education and Research (PCER), Chembur, in collaboration with Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur (SIBC), organized a Utility Hamper Distribution Drive on 7th March 2026 at Marouli Village, Chembur, Mumbai, benefiting 250 women from the local community. The activity was aligned with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 5 – Gender Equality, and SDG 10 – Reduced Inequality, and aimed to celebrate and support women from underprivileged communities, promote health and hygiene, provide essential utility items for daily well-being, encourage community engagement among B.Ed. student teachers, and raise awareness about women’s dignity and empowerment. The initiative was carried out with the active participation of B.Ed. students and teachers of PCER, Chembur, who distributed thoughtfully prepared hampers containing a tiffin box, water bottle, biscuits, sanitary napkins, and soap, items selected to support basic hygiene, nutrition, and everyday needs. The activity not only provided useful resources to the women but also offered an important experiential learning opportunity for B.Ed. students, helping them develop empathy, social awareness, and a sense of social responsibility. Overall, the celebration of International Women’s Day through this outreach initiative reflected the spirit of compassion, service, and women’s empowerment, and the collaborative efforts of WDC, MES Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur, and Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur made the programme impactful and beneficial for the community.
