MES Pillai College of Education and Research (PCER), Autonomous, Chembur, in association with Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur (SIBC) and Stree Mukti Sanghatana, organized an online expert session on “E-Waste Management in the Environment” on 21st February 2026 with Ms. Kalpana Andhare from Stree Mukti Sanghatana as the resource person. The session aimed to promote environmental education and awareness among students, encourage responsible waste management practices for sustainable urban living, highlight the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling electronic waste, and raise awareness about environmental protection and sustainable practices to reduce ecological impact. During the session, Ms. Andhare explained the growing problem of electronic waste resulting from rapid technological advancement and consumerism, noting that India is the third largest producer of e-waste, which poses serious environmental and health hazards if not managed properly. She elaborated on the harmful effects of improper disposal of electronic devices on soil, water, and human health. The session also highlighted the importance of public awareness, responsible consumption, and collective efforts in managing e-waste effectively. B.Ed. and BBA students attended the session and gained valuable insights into sustainable practices such as repairing, reusing, and recycling electronic devices. The session was highly informative and successfully created awareness among students about the importance of proper e-waste management, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals like SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13 – Climate Action.
