On 18th August a special assembly was conducted in celebration of Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami along with the commemoration of Muharram.
The assembly started with a prayer and the thought for the day based on the theme of the assembly. The significance of Raksha Bandhan was shared through the poem ‘Rakhi Day is Righteous Day’ by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. An informative video based on the story of Krishna Janmashtami shed light on the festival. A speech about the importance of Muharrum and how it is observed by Muslims provided information on this lesser known day of significance in Islam. The classroom was decorated to the theme of the assembly and beautiful and informative posters were put up in the class.
