The cultural heritage of our land was celebrated through the observance of Marathi Diwas during the special assembly on 18th February, 2020. Every year, February 27th is celebrated as Marathi Language Day in Maharashtra and Goa states in India. It is also known as ‘Marathi Bhasha Din’ and ‘Marathi Bhasha Diwas’ in Hindi and Marathi respectively. Marathi Language Day is celebrated on the birthday of eminent Marathi Poet Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar. On this occasion student teachers put up colorful charts and pictures and decorated the blackboard focusing on the importance of Marathi Language and also Poet Kusumgraj on whose birthday this day is celebrated. A poem by Kavi Kusumgraj ‘Kana’ was recited very sensitively by Ms. Benazeer and was highly appreciated by the audience. Ms. Sherry spoke about the significance of celebrating this day and the richness, the beauty of the language, its literature and its impact on the culture of our land. Principal Dr. Reni Francis spoke on the occasion and emphasized how we need to appreciate the linguistic diversity of our nation, to value and respect the cultural heritage of our land.
