India gained independence from British rule on the 15th of August, 1947 and this year marked the 74th celebration of this very important day in the life of every citizen of free India. Unlike previous years when all at MES would be physically present at the campus in order to unfurl the national flag and sing the national anthem, this year, due to the Pandemic, such an action was not possible. Yet, unfazed by the adversities, the students of PCER, Chembur put up an online Special Assembly where the values of patriotism and the love for our country was clearly exhibited.
The special assembly for Independence Day was organized by the tutorial students of Dr. Swasti Dhar. The activities presented were: The assembly started with a prayer to the nation where the students presented a video praying for the good of all citizens in the country. The prayer was presented by Ms. Priyanka Mishra. Ms. Maria Preethica spoke at length about the values of freedom and patriotism. She elaborated upon the time as to how in these difficult times too, we are united in our desire to help the country and how this day, the 15th of August is dear to all of us. Ms. Rukhsar spoke about the significance of the day and the crisis being faced by India and the entire world today due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Her thoughts were with the different sections of the society who were helping each other to overcome these difficult times. The assembly ended with the playing of the National Anthem. Though we are all separated by distance, our hearts are together on this momentous day.
