On International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, Pillai College of Education, Chembur in collaboration with Soroptomist Welfare Association (SIBC), Chembur organized a donation drive, on 17th October, 2023. The primary objective of this initiative was to collect and distribute essential food items to the less fortunate in our community, aiming to alleviate hunger and contribute to the well-being of those in need. The focus of the drive was on collecting non-perishable food items, with an emphasis on staple grains such as rice, cereals, pulses, and other essential foodstuffs.

A team of dedicated volunteers’ students and faculty from PCER, Chembur played a pivotal role in the success of the drive. Their responsibilities included, assisting with collections, Sorting and categorizing donations, packaging and preparing items for distribution

Foodgrains collected were sorted, packaged, and distributed to more than 100 beneficiaries, including local shelters, and families. The total proceeds of this drive were 60 kg rice, 65kg sugar, 45 kg mixed dal. The success of the foodgrains donation drive would not have been possible without the generous contributions of donors, the hard work of volunteers, and the support of the community.

The donation drive made a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need, embodying the spirit of compassion and solidarity.
