On 5th June, 2023, PCER Chembur organized a session on E-waste Management led by Ms. Kalpana Andhare from Stree Mukti Sanghatana. Ms. Andhare discussed the environmental impact of urbanization and modernization, emphasizing the production of non-biodegradable substances and the resulting pollution. She highlighted the challenges of e-waste management in India, including Extended Producer Responsibility and the involvement of the informal sector. Ms. Andhare proposed the 5R principle (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recover, and Recycle) and emphasized the importance of waste segregation at the source for effective waste management.
