Women Development Cell of Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur organized a National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi sponsored One Day Training Progamme on “Human Rights Towards Reduced Inequalities”.
SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities on 20th February, 2020.
The main objectives of the training program was to promote an understanding of universality of human rights among student teachers.
The Training program was divided into 4 sessions which included

The training program was presided by Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Subhash Avate, IPS (retd) Former Additional DGP, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Principal, Dr. Reni Francis, Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur along with other dignitaries.
Dr. Subhash Avate in his key note address gave insights into the Human rights and discussed the role of various national and international bodies protecting and safeguarding human rights. Followed by Mr. Maiful Hussain Former Secretary, MSHRC who discussed about Constitutional Provisions regarding Human Rights. Dr. Chandrasekhar A. Chakradeo, Assistant Professor, Chembur Sarvankash Shikshan Shastra Mahavidyalaya, focussed on Rights of Women and Children and Dr. Shamim Modi, Chairperson & Assistant Professor – Centre for Law and Society, School of Law, Rights and Constitutional Governance, TISS (Mumbai) laid emphasis on Rights of Other Vulnerable Groups. Each session was very fruitful as resource persons could meet the participant’s expectations. The programme ended with vote of thanks and certificate distribution. Ms. Vani Achari was the convener of the training programme.
Student teachers understood about the need for strengthening knowledge, skills and attitudes of future teachers, and for creating human rights ethos and learning environment in schools as the best safeguard of human rights lies in the positive role of the teacher who generates public awareness and builds up an alert mind. Principal Dr. Reni Francis inspired young student teachers to change the world and have an ideology that stands for the welfare of everyone in the society. The programme concluded with vote of thanks.
