The Women Development Cell (WDC) of PCER, Chembur seeks to encourage female students to work towards their personal and social development. The role of this cell is to equip all students with awareness and self-confidence about their gender and related issues. WDC also aims at helping students become more sensitive to issues of gender and treat each other with mutual respect and equality.

Keeping in mind these aims of WDC, on the occasion of National Science Day, Women Development cell of Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur organized a special session on the topic ‘Hands on Science’ on Monday, 27th February, 2023. The session was conducted by Dr. Farah Shaikh, an alumnus of Pillai College of Education and Research Chembur and a Physics teacher of Dr. Pillai Global Academy, Gorai. The session began with Dr. Shaikh emphasizing on the importance of reflection and communication skills. She then proceeded to conduct various experiments using basic materials which were cost-effective and engaging for the students. The students actively participated in the experiments and gained a better understanding of the broader concepts through simple means. The session was a success and provided an interactive platform for the students to learn science in an engaging manner. Overall, it was a fun filled and informative session that left a lasting impact on the students.
