PCER Chembur encourage students to get involved in various activities organized by DLLE University of Mumbai. The various objectives of the extension activates were;
- To sensitize students towards the needs of the marginalized society
- To prepare students socially responsible
The F.Y. B.Ed. students conducted activities under two categories PEC and SWS. The PEC students carried out lessons in various schools on topics like Health and hygiene, importance of healthy diet, taking care of self, sex education, self-defence, caring our surrounding, responsible towards resources- water, electricity. The student-teachers conducted such classes around 10-12 schools during their internship programme. They also conducted various co-curricular activities to sensitise students on various topics or to develop healthy habits among them.
The SWS students conducted surveys one various issues related to women. The various topics selected were domestic violence, attitude towards girl child, work-life balance etc. The students conducted the survey and prepared the report and submitted to the university. The students conducted street-plays on ‘domestic violence’ on various parts of Greater Mumbai.
Apart from the various college level activities, the students participated in UDDAN festival. They participated in Street-play competition and poster-making competition. The theme chosen for the street play was ‘Dowry system. The various extension activities, provided lot of networking and collaborating opportunities to the students. Overall, it was very enriching experience to the students.
